Generally, no. CDU's Generative Artificial Intelligence Policy sets out clear requirements for researchers using gen AI tools.

From a copyright perspective, uploading someone else's copyrighted material, such as a journal article, book chapter, or dataset, to an AI platform without the rights holder's permission is not advisable. Most library database licence agreements also explicitly prohibit uploading database content to AI tools.

CDU's approved Research Assistant feature in Library Search provides a limited, licensed pathway for using AI with certain library resources. Outside of this approved tool, treat copyrighted material as off-limits for AI upload. If you are unsure whether a specific use is permitted, consult the CDU Library Copyright Officer before proceeding.
