Generally, no. Subscription services like Netflix are licensed for personal household use only. There are limited exceptions for some documentaries; contact the library for further information about using a documentary from one of the streaming services.
Which videos can I show in class?
You can show films or TV programs in class if they are;
- for educational purposes
- available only to enrolled students
- a legitimate copy, and
- not recorded (for example, recordings in Collaborate are paused).
This covers DVD, purchased files, broadcasts and streaming content.
What if I want a video in my Reading List?
Videos can be added to your Reading List. If a video is freely accessible for streaming, you add it to your Reading List like any other online resource. If the video is subscription based, the library will help source appropriately licenced material, for example, streaming videos available via the Kanopy Streaming service.
