Use the following steps to check if we have an item in our catalogue and find it on the shelves.

Step 1: In Library Search, put the book title in double quotation marks (e.g. "Lord of the Rings") or use keywords related to the item (e.g. "Tolkien"; "Frodo").

Step 2: On the results page, use the 'Tweak my results' function to limit your search to "Books" and "Available in the Library". You can even narrow the results to show books at a specific campus.

Step 3: When you find the title you are looking for, take note of the call number of the item (e.g. 823.912 TOLK). The books are shelved based on this number.

Step 4: Initially look for the first three digits of the call number to find the approximate shelving. Once you have located that number, look for the number sequence after the full stop and then for the letters.

Note: At the Casuarina campus Library, the majority of books are located on the 2nd and 3rd floor. Books are shelved following the Dewey Decimal System, which is a numerical system. Each number represents a specific subject area.

New books and periodicals are located on a display on the 1st floor.

Books with a Dewey number ranging from 001 to 499 are located on the 2nd floor.

Books with a Dewey number ranging from 500 to 999 and the Law Collection are located on the 3rd floor.
